Catechist Certification

Catechist Certification is an essential part of the ongoing formation for Catechists.

The Archdiocese of Atlanta requires that all catechists complete Basic Certification within their first two years as catechists.  There are lots of ways Catechists can earn their certification. Please see below for a link to the Archdiocese of Atlanta's Catechist Certification information page and links to resources and log sheets. Please contact the Faith Formation office so that we can best guide you and be a resource to you.

Levels of certification: Credit may be earned concurrently, but certificates are awarded in advancing order

  • Basic: 24 hours required (14 courses with specific content; see Chapter 4)
  • Intermediate: 42 hours required (course hours in specific content area)
  • Advanced: 48 hours required (course hours in specific content areas)
