800th Anniversary Celebration of St. Francis

Join us for a special weekend celebrating the 800th Anniversary of the Transitus of St. Francis of Assisi. The Archdiocese of Atlanta has chosen our parish as the site for this historic celebration, and we are honored to welcome Archbishop Hartmayer and Catholics from throughout the Archdiocese!

Join the friars and Secular Franciscans for a beautiful evening of songs, prayers, and readings commemorating St. Francis’s passage from earthly life to eternal life with God.

Join us at the outdoor altar in the garden for the Mass of St. Francis, presided over by Archbishop Hartmayer. Please bring a chair for the outdoor Mass.

There will be NO 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., or 4:00 p.m. Masses on Sunday, October 4.
Pilgrimage in the Franciscan Spirit
In 2026, the Church marks the 800th anniversary of the death of St. Francis of Assisi (1226–2026) with a special Franciscan Jubilee Year, running from January 10, 2026 to January 10, 2027. This sacred time, granted by the Holy See to the Franciscan family, invites the faithful to renew their lives in the spirit of the Gospel as lived by St. Francis—through simplicity, humility, peace, and love for all creation.
As a designated pilgrimage site for this Jubilee, our church welcomes all who seek a deeper encounter with Christ. Pilgrims are invited to participate in Mass, prayer, and acts of charity, following the example of St. Francis, whose life continues to inspire conversion and joyful discipleship.
During this Jubilee Year, the faithful may receive a plenary indulgence under the usual conditions. This includes sacramental confession, reception of Holy Communion, prayer for the intentions of the Holy Father, and a sincere detachment from sin. Pilgrimage to a designated Franciscan church, such as ours, along with participation in prayer, liturgical celebrations, or acts of mercy, forms part of this spiritual journey.
We invite you to come, pray, and walk in the footsteps of St. Francis during this grace-filled year of conversion, mercy, and renewal.
