English as a Second Language (ESL)/Citizenship Classes
ESL/Citizenship classes help adult learners become active participants in their communities. ESL volunteers help students develop the knowledge and English language skills needed to access governmental, educational, financial, healthcare, and other U.S. institutions. Citizenship volunteers instruct students in American history, naturalization process, and prepare them to take a test. Adults 18 and over with strong English skills are needed to teach these classes; you do not have to speak a foreign language. High school teenagers are welcome for community service credit (must have consent of parent/guardian). Training is provided!

SOCIAL JUSTICE COMMITTEE
This committee engages in activities that promote social justice events, social action, and formation & education that is centered on tenets of the Catholic Faith. All who “hear the cry of the poor” and want to do something about it are invited to join with us to participate in a collaborative group to highlight social action causes and solidarity in the world. People with different gifts are needed: writers, coordinators to plan and implement events, and those who keep current with legislative policies that affect key principles of Catholic Social Teaching.

St. Vincent de Paul Society & Food Pantry
St. Vincent de Paul is a lay volunteer organization that assists the community by reaching out to those in need (in a loving and compassionate Christian manner) to assess their needs and assist with available resources. We serve the greater Clayton County community, with 14 zip codes under our jurisdiction. Adults and teens are needed to help in greeting people, interviewing clients, passing out food, setting up boxes with enough food for families, ordering food, transporting food out to clients, restocking shelves, cleaning the pantry, entering client records, etc. Volunteers with SVDP should be nonjudgmental and good stewards of resources entrusted to SVDP by the parish and the community. Additionally, volunteers should be kind, caring, and maintain confidentiality.
